Owner Mark Amway began working for The Inside Track as a part time employee in College.
Mark was a runner throughout his high school and college years and brought his
passion for running to the store with him each day. Mark ran for Hempfield HS
and Lock Haven University. While running at Lock Haven, Mark earned Division II
All-American status in Cross-country and went on to be an accomplished distance
runner from the 5K up to the marathon. He was a two time Olympic Trials Qualifier
in the marathon. Mark continued to work at the store after earning his degree to become a physical education teacher. After working for The Inside Track for over 8 years, Mark had the opportunity to buy the business from the previous owner, who decided to pursue other interests.
Over the years, Mark has expanded The Inside Track's product line to include nutrition products, apparel and orthotics and opened 2 additional store locations in Harrisburg, and Mechanicsburg. The Inside Track now has a staff of 15, including 2 exceptionally experienced managers who run each store location.
The focus of the business has always been centered around service - using knowledge and experience to find the right shoes for each customer. Mark's passion for running has helped to fuel that service. An avid runner, he enjoys talking to customers about running almost as much as he enjoys running himself. As a result, Mark makes sure every employee has extensive training in their product line and he prefers to hire high school and college athletes and coaches who already understand the needs of his customers through their own experience.
